ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy swept all four singles matches in straight sets and won the doubles point by winning two of three doubles matches in sweeping Loyola (Md.) on Sunday afternoon at the Tose Family Tennis Center, 7-0. The win kept Navy undefeated in its first season on the varsity level at 3-0.

"We beat a very solid Loyola team today. We came out very strong at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles and did a great job of maintaining our momentum throughout the set and carried that momentum into the singles," said Navy head coach Keith Puryear.

The freshmen duo of Emani Decquir and Dye Das won at No. 1 doubles, 8-2, over Rachel Janasek and Keri Swan. The duo improved to 7-4 overall and 2-0 during the spring dual season. At No. 2 doubles, the pairing of Brittney Boucher and freshman Stefanie Ton topped Joy Johnson and Andie Keyser-Baker, 8-2, to run their spring record to 3-0.

Navy's No. 3 pairing of Julie Dias and Lindsay Olsen lost to Scarlett Hoy and Judy Lite, 8-5, suffering their first loss of the spring season, now at 2-1.

The Mids then won all six singles matches in straight sets to finish off the 7-0 victory.

Decquir topped Janasek at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-3, to improve her record to 3-0 this spring and 10-3 overall this year. Boucher won at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-2, over Swan. Ton topped Johnson, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 3 singles. Das had Navy's toughest match, needing a second-set tiebreaker win to top Keyser-Baker, 6-4, 7-6 (3) at No. 4 singles.

Freshman Natalie Houle defeated Hoy at No. 5 doubles, 6-0, 6-1, and Olsen finished the match with a 6-3, 6-1, victory over Lite.

Navy will battle Howard on Feb. 25, on Thursday beginning at 3:00 pm, then host Rider at 11:00 am on Saturday, both matches at the Tose Family Tennis Center at the Brigade Sports Complex.

"We still have some areas to address but I love the way we are progressing as a team as we prepare for next week's matches," said Puryear.
