Center Valley, Pa.- Seven Patriot League teams swam last week, marking another busy stretch of League swimming. Student-athletes from Bucknell, Navy and Army all won Patriot League Swimmer and Diver of the Week laurels.

Male Swimmer of the Week

Gonzalo DeLeon, Bucknell So., Ringwood, N.J.

DeLeon swam four individual events in last weekend's Bucknell Invitational and helped lead the Bison to a first-place team finish. DeLeon's time of 1:49.33 in the 200 back is a new school record, and his 400 IM time of 4:04.90 is the third best in program history. His times in the 200 back, 400 IM and 200 fly are all in the 90th percentile of the NCAA B-standard times.

Female Swimmer of the Week

Tara Chapmon, Navy Jr., Virginia Beach, Va.

Chapmon helped lead the Mids to a sixth-place team finish at the Terrapin Invite with three first-place finishes in the 200 free, 500 free and 1,650 free. Chapmon's times of 1:48.00 in the 200 free and 4:46.68 in the 500 free are both NCAA B-cut times, with the junior breaking her own Navy and Patriot League records in both events.

Male Diver of the Week

Olaf Olson, Navy So., Bainbridge Island, Wash.

Olson won both boards against Brown and Dartmouth, winning the one meter with a score of 318.85 and the three meter with a score of 386.05. The sophomore's scores helped give Navy a 155-131 win over Brown and a 179-110 win over Dartmouth.

Female Diver of the Week

Lindsey Adao, Army Jr., New City, N.Y.

Adao swept both diving events in a dual meet against Columbia, which the Black Knights lost, 188-106. Adao won the one meter with a score of 250.35 and the three meter with a score of 255.30. This is Adao's fourth weekly honor this season.

Weekend Recap

Seven Patriot League teams swam last week, marking another busy stretch of League swimming. The Navy women headed to Maryland to swim in the Terrapin Invitational, where they finished sixth of 10 teams and Tara Chapmon set new Patriot League and Navy records in two events. At the George Mason Invitational, the American men finished in eighth place of eight teams, while the women finished in seventh of eight teams. Lehigh and Lafayette squared off in Easton on Friday, with the Mountain Hawks sweeping the Leopards. Army split its dual meet with Columbia, with the men securing another victory while the women came up short in their meet. The Bison had a good weekend at the Bucknell Invitational, with the men coming up big with a first-place finish, while the women finished third of six teams. Brown and Dartmouth traveled to Annapolis, where both teams lost to the Navy men.

There are no scheduled events next week.

Patriot League Teams Honored by CSCAA

Seven Patriot League squads have earned the distinction of College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Academic All-American Teams, with two institutions placing in the top-10 combined NCAA Div. I Academic All-American Teams. Lafayette College's men's and women's teams combined for a 3.440 grade-point average, good for third in the nation on the list. Bucknell is ranked seventh in the nation for combined grade-point average at 3.320.

On the women's side, Lafayette was the highest-ranking Patriot League team, with a team grade-point average of 3.510. The Leopards are followed by Bucknell (3.390), American (3.386) and Colgate (3.240). On the men's side, Lafayette is tops for Patriot League again with a 3.370 team grade-point average. Bucknell is next with a 3.250 grade-point average, followed by Colgate's 3.050 grade-point average.

A Few Lanes Away

The 2008 Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championship meet will take place Thurs. -Sat., Feb. 19-21 at Arthur D. Kinney Jr., Natatorium at Bucknell University. The meet will begin at 10:30 a.m. on each of the three days of competition.

Team Notebooks

American American swam in the George Mason Invitational last weekend, with the men's team finishing in eighth of eight teams and the women's team finishing in seventh of eight teams. Dorothy Isaacs broke the meet record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:03.06. The Eagles swim again on Dec. 4.

Army Army split its meet with Columbia on Saturday, with the men winning 160-135, while the women lost, 188-106. The Black Knights will next host Navy in the annual Star Meet on Dec. 4

Bucknell The Bison hosted the Bucknell Invitational, with the men coming in first of five teams, while the women finished third of six teams. Gonzalo DeLeon set a new program record in the 200 back with a time of 1:49.33. Bucknell does not swim again until next year, when it hosts Colgate on Jan. 10.

Colgate The Raiders had no scheduled events this week. Colgate next competes Dec. 4 at the Kenyon Invitational.

Holy Cross Holy Cross competed in the Terrier Invitational last weekend, with the women finishing eighth of nine teams and the men coming in sixth of six teams. The Crusaders next compete at the Harold Anderson Invitational on Dec. 5.

Lafayette The Leopards hosted archrival Lehigh last week in a dual meet. The men lost, 207-93, while the women also fell, 158-140, to the Mountain Hawks. Lafayette next swims at Stony Brook on Jan. 17.

Lehigh Lehigh swept archrival Lafayette in last weekend's dual meet, with the men winning 207-93 and the women also victorious at 158-140. The Mountain Hawks next swim Sun., Dec. 7 at St. Peter's.

Navy Navy women finished sixth of 10 teams at the Terrapin Invitational last weekend, while the men defeated Dartmouth and Brown in Annapolis. The Mids next swim at archrival Army on Dec. 4.
