DURHAM, N.H. - The Colgate men's swimming and diving team picked up a sweep of New Hampshire and Vermont on Saturday, while the women's squad defeated Vermont and lost to New Hampshire. The men defeated New Hampshire 154-85 and took down the Catamounts by the score of 191-33. The women beat Vermont 185-56, but fell to New Hampshire 136-106.
Chrissy Zaika and Rich Derrick led the way for Colgate with each winning two events. Derrick took first in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:10.39 and the 500 freestyle in a time of 4:55.34.
Zaika took first in the 100 freestyle in a time of 54.14. She also won the 50 freestyle in 24.51.
Jenn Busby and Lane Ellis each won both diving boards for the Raiders. Busby won the one-meter dive with a score of 258.95 and the three-meter event with 256 points. Ellis took the top spot in the one-meter dive with a score of 299.20. His score of 284.20 was good for first place in the three-meter dive.
The men's squad had five other winners on the day. Levi Benson won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:04.10. Brett Nichols earned the top spot in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:02.93. Freshman David Traini took the top spot in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:01.47. Colgate's 400 yard freestyle and 400 yard medley relay teams also took top finishes,
The Raiders now have two weeks off before hosting Loyola, Marist and Niagara in a two-day tri-meet on Decmeber 5-6.
