Seventy-six placed on Men's Swimming & Diving Academic Honor Roll
July 28, 2005 The 2005 Patriot League Men's Swimming & Diving Academic Honor Roll, released on Thursday, contains 76 student-athletes, including three with perfect 4.0 grade point averages. Bucknell had a League-high 14 selections, while 2005 champion Navy placed 10 on the list. Bucknell's 14 were followed by 11 from American, Navy's 10, and then Colgate with nine. Army, Holy Cross, Lafayette and Lehigh all had eight student-athletes qualify. AU junior Justice & History major Kevin Falkenstein (Westmont, N.J./Haddon Township) was one of the three with a 4.0 GPA, along with Colgate senior Computer Science/Economics major Gregory Jachno (Massapequa, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) and Navy sophomore Political Science major John Kennedy (Richmond, Va./Maggie L. Walker Governor's School). The 2005 Men's Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year was Bucknell's Adam Freeman (Barrington, Ill./Barrington), who won the award for the second time in his career on Apr. 21. Freeman, a junior and Mechanical Engineering major, owns a 3.75 cumulative GPA. To be eligible for the PL Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the League's six winter or 10 spring championship sports. A total of 863 student-athletes were named to the League's Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll, including 53 with 4.0 GPAs. Bucknell led the way with 199 candidates. The Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll includes the sports of men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's indoor track & field, baseball, softball, men's and women's lacrosse, men's and women's tennis, men's golf, women's rowing and men's and women's outdoor track & field.
