CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – A total of 10 swimming and diving squads from the Patriot League were recently honored by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) as Scholar All-America teams for classroom achievement by obtaining team grade-point averages of 3.00 or above.
In addition, Navy's Laura Gorinski was singled out as a Scholar All-America selection as an individual by the CSCAA. She is the reigning two-time Patriot League Women's Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and will be a senior in 2012-13.
The 10 were evenly distributed among men and women with five on each side. Four schools – American, Bucknell, Colgate and Lafayette – had both of their men’s and women’s teams recognized.
On the women’s side, Bucknell boasted the highest team GPA at 3.49, followed by Lafayette and Lehigh, which posted a 3.33. American earned a 3.26 team GPA, while Colgate recorded a 3.15.
Bucknell was the League leader on the men’s side as well with a 3.35 team GPA. American was next among League squads with a 3.22, followed by Army (3.19), Lafayette (3.18) and Colgate (3.17).
Yale led the men’s list with a team GPA of 3.62, while Clemson and Alabama were tops on the women’s side with the same 3.62 GPA.
