EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette landed 21 student-athletes on the Patriot League Women's Swimming and Diving Academic Honor Roll, tied for the highest total in the league, and had eight men named to the Honor Roll as well for the Spring 2006 semester.

Sophomores Julia Kumpan, an Interdisciplinary/History and Religious Studies major, and Jaryd Freedman, a Biochemistry major, were two of 14 Patriot League student-athletes who recorded a 4.0 grade-point average last semester. In all, 181 of the league's swimmers and divers earned a spot on the Honor Roll, which requires a 3.2 GPA and a varsity letter to qualify.

Among Lafayette's honorees are graduated seniors Greg Van Volkenburg and Tory Littlefield, who were both named to the Patriot League Class of 2006 Top 10 list for their performances at the league's championship meet over their four years. Van Volkenburg, a backstroker who posted a 3.80 GPA as a Chemical Engineering major, was a first team All-Patriot League choice as a senior after being named to the second team as a sophomore and junior. Littlefield, a Biology major with a 3.46 GPA last spring, placed in the 100 and 200 butterfly each of her final three seasons as a Leopard.
