2006 Patriot League Men's Swimming and Diving Academic Honor Roll
Center Valley, Pa. - Eighty-three student-athletes were named to the 2006 Patriot League Men's Swimming and Diving Academic Honor Roll, announced Executive Director Carolyn Schlie Femovich Thursday. Four student-athletes posted 4.00 grade-point averages during the spring semester, including Bucknell's Nick Hanes, Colgate's Levi Benson, Lafayette's Jaryd Freedman and Navy's John Kennedy. Also a member of the honor roll is American's Valery Fomenko, who was tabbed the Patriot League Men's Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year in April. Fomenko was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic At-Large District II team and carried 3.66 grade-point average in international business. The former Eagle had two wins and a runner-up finish at the Patriot League Championship this past year and was named First-Team All-Patriot League for a third consecutive season. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League's six winter or 10 spring championship sports. A total of 977 student-athletes were named to the Patriot League's Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll, which includes the sports of men and women's basketball, men and women's swimming and diving, men and women's indoor track and field, baseball, golf, men and women's lacrosse, rowing, men and women's outdoor track and field, softball and men and women's tennis.
