Center Valley, Pa. - A total of 98 men's swimming and diving student-athletes have been named to this year's Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, led by 2012 Scholar-Athlete of the Year Christian Treat of Bucknell.
Treat, a junior animal behavior major, posted a 3.50 grade-point average in the spring term and earned a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll for the third straight year.
Six men's swimming and diving student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA for the spring term. American seniors Rob Grell, a mathematics major, and Sam Miller, who majored in public communication and psychology, posted 4.0s in the spring, as did Bucknell seniors Nathaniel Frye (mathematics) and Matthew Segar (computer science), and sophomore Trevor Reitz (biology). Navy sophomore chemistry major Brian Sweeney rounded out the list of six.
Bucknell led all schools with 17 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll, followed closely by Army with 16 selections. American was next with 13 student-athletes, while Lehigh and Holy Cross followed behind with 12 names apiece on the list.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's winter or spring championship sports.
