Center Valley, Pa.- The eight Patriot League institutions combined to place 107 student-athletes on the 2012 Women's Swimming and Diving Academic Honor Roll, it was announced on Wednesday.
Navy Astrophysics major Laura Gorinski, a junior who was named Women's Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second year in a row in the winter, earned a 3.60 grade-point average in the spring semester to secure her place on the list.
Thirteen student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA or better for the spring term. Gorinski's Navy classmates Katie Davidson, an English major, and Danielle Reminger, who studies oceanography, each hit the mark along with Bucknell seniors Jennifer Kokoska (Mathematics) and Christine Shepherd (Civil Engineering), junior Elizabeth Porcellio (Neuroscience) and sophomore Alex Panzarino (Neuroscience). Also earning a 4.0 in the spring were Lehigh seniors Lauren Armstrong, a Marketing major, Alyssa Siano, who studies Business Information Systems, and Finance major Paola Simon. Lafayette seniors Alexandria Brannick, a Geology major, and Imogen Cain, an Art major, also earned 4.0 GPAs in the spring, along with American sophomore Julia Von Heeringen, a Psychology and International Studies major, and Army sophomore Life Science major Rita Snyder. Nine student-athletes who earned Academic All-Patriot League honors in the winter were also named to the Academic Honor Roll.
Bucknell led all Patriot League schools with 22 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll, while Lafayette finished close behind with 19. Holy Cross added 18 student-athletes for Honor Roll selection, while Lehigh tallied 13.
To be eligible for the spring Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's winter or spring championship sports.
