  • LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell record-setting men's swimmers Matthew Segar (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) and Mike Nicholson (Chappaqua, N.Y./Horace Greeley) were named CollegeSwimming.com Honorable Mention Mid-Major All-Americans, it was announced Monday. Segar, a junior, and Nicholson, a freshman, helped the Bison to a third-place finish at this past February's Patriot League Championships.

A two-time Second Team All-Patriot League choice, Segar capped his 2010-11 campaign with a school record (1:38.13) in the 200-yard freestyle at the ECAC Championships. That performance followed his second-best time in program history (4:27.75) in the 500 free at the Patriot League Championships.

Segar swam in the 200 free, 500 free and 200 fly at the Patriot League Championships, posting three top-10 finishes. His best showing was third in the 200 free.

Overall, Segar ranks in the top 10 in program history in five events, including 200 free (1st), 500 free (2nd), 1,650 free (4th), 1,000 free (5th) and 200 fly (9th).

In 2011, Nicholson became Bucknell's first freshman to earn First Team All-Patriot League honors since 2008 as he had a banner campaign. He earned the Bison's lone individual Patriot League title, winning the 400 IM in a school-record time of 3:52.09, breaking the previous standard by nearly five seconds. Additionally, Nicholson placed third in the 200 IM and seventh in the 200 fly at the league meet.

Nicholson piled up 24 first-place finishes in 2010-11 as he competed in eight different events. He finished the season with his name appearing on four different Bison top-10 lists. In addition to his school record in the 400 IM, Nicholson broke a 23-year-old mark in the 200 IM and he ranks second all-time in the 200 fly. Additionally, he stands sixth on the 200 breast list.
