CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy junior Laura Gorinski, the Patriot League Women's Swimming and Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was the only League swimmer invited to either the NCAA men and women's swimming championships this month. The women's competition took place in Auburn, Ala., from March 15-17.

Gorinski began competition on March 15 in the 200-yard individual medley, where she clocked a time of 2:00.57 to place 45th. She entered the championship seeded 55th in the event.

On March 16 Gorinski swam in the 100 breast, placing 37th in the trial heats with a time of 1:01.90. A day later, she competed in the 200 breast and took 33rd place with a clocking of 2:12.61.

Gorinski, who was named the Female Swimmer of the Meet at the Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships in February, was making her first appearance in the NCAA meet. She will next compete at the U.S. Olympic Trials.
