McGraw Breaks Colgate and League Records at Speedo Champions Series - Sectional Championships
March 16, 2009 From Colgate Athletic Communications CAMBRIDGE, MASS. - Colgate's Erin McGraw (Penfield, N.Y.) continued her tremendous 2008-09 campaign by posting two more school and Patriot League records at the Speedo Sectional Champions Series - Eastern Zone, Northern Sectional Swimming & Diving Championships, this weekend at Harvard's Blodgett Pool. The sophomore opened the event Friday evening by copping first place in the 100 fly in record-setting fashion. McGraw posted a 54.02 and won the final by over one second. She tallied a 54.29 in the preliminary swim. McGraw's winning time not only bested her own school and Patriot League records set a few weeks back at the league championships (54.08), but broke the former meet record of 54.59 set by Alex Forrester two years ago. On Saturday, McGraw returned to erase school and league records in the 200 fly as she touched with a 2:00.2 in a time trial. The former school and Patriot League marks were set by teammate Caren Guyett (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.), who posted a 2:01.31 in the final en route to winning the 2009 league crown a few weeks ago. McGraw, who also has captured a third in the 100 back (55.86) and fifth in the 50 free (23.82), returns to action Sunday morning for the preliminaries of the 200 IM, an event she is seeded third.
