Lewisburg, Pa. - A total of eight swimming and diving records were set at the Friday morning preliminary session of the 2009 Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships at Kinney Natatorium on the campus of Bucknell University. Seven of the records are both Patriot League and Patriot League Championship Meet records, while the seventh is a League Championship Meet record.

Five of the Patriot League and League Championship Meet records were set on the women's side. Bucknell's Courtney Warren swam a 55.02 in the 100-yard backstroke, shaving nearly a second off the previous record of 56.29, set by Lectie Altman at the 2005 League Championships. American's Dorothy Isaacs swam a 1:02.13 in the 100-yard breaststroke, breaking the previous Patriot League record of 1:02.94 and League Championship Meet record of 1:03.14.

Colgate's Erin McGraw surpassed her previous Patriot League record of 55.06 set late last month with a 54.32 in the 100-yard butterfly this morning. McGraw broke her League Championship Meet record of 54.35, set at last year's championship meet. McGraw's teammate Caren Guyett shattered the 400-yard IM records, swimming a 4:17.45. The previous Patriot League record in the event was 4:20.27, while the League Championship Meet record was 4:22.95.

Navy's Tara Chapmon swam a 1:46.62 in the 200-yard free in the morning session. Chapmon set the previous Patriot League record of 1:48.00 last November, and the previous League Championship Meet record of 1:48.82 at last year's title meet.

On the men's side, Navy's Adam Meyer set the Patriot League and League Championship Meet records in the 100-yard butterfly at 47.71. Army's Joe Novak was the previous Patriot League record-holder with a 48.44, while Navy's Mike Linn set the League Championship Meet record of 48.67 at the 2006 Patriot League Championships. Navy's Jon Galinski set a six-dive Patriot League and League Championship Meet record of 342.70, surpassing the previous records set by Navy's Kevin Teague in the 2005 League Championship meet.

Andrew Hetzner of Navy set a League Championship Meet record of 49.21 in the 100-yard backstroke during the first leg of the men's 400-yard IM. The previous record of 49.33 was set at the 2005 League Championships by American's Val Fomenko.

Tonight's finals session will begin at 6 p.m. with the women's and men's 200 medley relay final. After one day of competition, the defending champion Navy men and Colgate women are atop their respective team standings.
