Four Patriot League Records Fall at Patriot League Championship Preliminaries
Feb. 19, 2009 Lewisburg, Pa. - Four Patriot League swimming and diving records were set at the morning preliminary session at the 2009 Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championships. On the men's side, Bucknell junior Luke Trafton set a record in the 500-yd. free with a time of 4:23.37, also an NCAA B-cut. The previous record of 4:25.19 was set at the 2004 League Championships by American's Erwan Jeffroy. In the men's three-meter diving event, Navy's Olaf Olson set a Patriot League and League Championship Meet record with a score of 372.72, breaking the previous records of 365.40, set by Navy's Kevin Teague at the 2006 League Championships. For the women, Colgate senior Emily Murphy shattered the record in the 200-yd. IM with a time of 2:00.67, also an NCAA B-cut time. The previous standard of 2:03.19 was also set at the 2004 Patriot League Championships by Navy's Aubra Thomas. Thuy-Mi Dinh achieved an NCAA B-cut and broke her own Patriot League record in the 50-yd. free with a time of 22:36. Dinh's time is one-hundredth of a second faster than her previous time.
