CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Patriot League golf fall season is complete, and the men's and women's teams will now wait it out until they can get back on the course in the spring to prepare for April's League Championship tournaments.
The inaugural Patriot League Women's Golf Championship will be held on April 20-21 at Bucknell Golf Club, with the Naval Academy adding the sport this week to join the Bison, Holy Cross and Lehigh in the field. The Patriot League Men's Golf Championship is set for April 27-28 at Lehigh's Saucon Valley Country Club.
Patriot League Male Golfer of the Month
Anthony Kim, Army Jr., Los Angeles, Calif.
Kim won the Service Academy Classic on Oct. 22-23, shooting a 1-over 217 to help Army tie for the team title with Air Force. It was his third career tournament win. Kim fired two under-par rounds and two even par rounds in three events during October, as he also finished in a tie for 14th with a 3-over 145 at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate last week and shot a 6-over par 222 at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate on Oct. 13-14. He claims his first Patriot League Male Golfer of the Month award.
Patriot League Female Golfer of the Month
Marisa Cameron, Holy Cross Fr., Garden City, N.Y.
Cameron played in two events during October, and had the lowest team score at both the Sacred Heart and Ann S. Batchelder Invitationals. Her average 18-hole score of 88.9 leads the squad. Cameron wins her first Patriot League Female Golfer of the Month award.
Steve Zychowski, Holy Cross Sr., Mendham, N.J.
Zychowski won the Adelphi Intercollegiate Invitational with a 3-under 139 to earn his fourth collegiate victory. His first round score of 69 (-2) was his lowest collegiate total.
Will Delano, Colgate Sr., New Canaan, Conn.
Delano had a pair of strong tournaments in October, finishing in a tie for seventh at the Lehigh Fall Invitational on Oct. 20-21 and tied for 13th at the Binghamton Invitational on Oct. 7-8.
Chad Bell, Lafayette Fr., Fresno, Calif.
Bell made a putt on the 18th hole to give Lafayette a 7-6 win over rival Lehigh in the Presidents' Cup match between the schools on Oct. 9. He also finished 11th at the Lehigh Invitational on Oct. 20-21.

Naval Academy Adds Women's Golf as Varsity Sport
Naval Academy Director of Athletics Chet Gladchuk announced Monday that women's golf will be elevated to a varsity sport and that Nadia Ste-Marie will serve as the head coach. The Naval Academy will now field 33 intercollegiate sports and women's golf will be eligible to compete at the Division I level immediately, including the season-ending Patriot League championship in April. The inaugural Patriot League Women's Golf Championship will be held at Bucknell University on April 20-21 and include the host Bison, Lehigh and Holy Cross in addition to the Mids.
October Features More Patriot League vs. Patriot League Action
Patriot League golf teams found themselves on the same course numerous times during October. It started at the Binghamton Invitational on Oct. 7-8, where Bucknell came in fourth and Colgate was 13th. The next day Lafayette beat Lehigh 7-6 in a dramatic Presidents' Cup match. Two weeks later it was a preview of the men's golf championship at the Lehigh Invitaitonal, held at Saucon Valley Country Club. Host Lehigh was the top finisher among League squads in fourth place, while Bucknell was fifth, Lafayette came in sixth and Colgate placed eighth. In addition, Army came in a tie for first and Navy was third at the Service Academy Classic on Oct. 23-24, and the fall slate wrapped up at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate last week where Army came in 10th and Colgate was 13th.
2013 Patriot League Golf Championships
The first-ever Patriot League Women's Golf Championship will be held on April 20-21 at the Bucknell Golf Club, with the host Bison, Holy Cross, Lehigh and Navy competing in the field. The next week will feature the 2013 Patriot League Men's Golf Championship at Lehigh's Saucon Valley Country Club on April 27-28.
