Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars | GCAA Team Academic Awards CENTER VALLEY - An individual and a team in Patriot League men's golf were both honored recently for academic success by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Army rising senior Robby Hill was one of 210 Division players named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar by the GCAA for his academic and athletic success. Individuals qualified for the list by being a junior or senior academically, competing in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participating in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, having a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintaining a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Hill competed in 10 tournaments in 2013-14, posting a career best 74.89 scoring average while also winning two crucial points in Army's win over Navy. He was named to the Patriot League Men's Golf Academic Honor Roll in June.
After winning the Patriot League title in its inaugural season, Loyola University Maryland also notched an impressive achievement in the classroom as one of 141 teams in all divisions to earn GCAA All-Academic Team recognition by combining for a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher for the academic year. Loyola led the way with eight student-athletes on the Patriot League Men's Golf Academic Honor Roll for achieving a 3.2 or higher grade-point average in the spring semester.
