CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The 2014 Patriot League Men's Golf Championship will be hosted by Army at West Point Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday, with the Black Knights welcoming Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette, Lehigh, Loyola and Navy with the League title at stake.

the 54-hole event will begin with the first 36 on Saturday and conclude with the final 18 on Sunday. Each participating team is limited to six golfers with the top four scorers each round counting towards the team total. The final team score is determined by totaling all completed rounds, while individual scoring consists of the lowest aggregate score of all completed rounds. The winning team earns the Patriot League's automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Golf Regionals, while an individual champion that is not on the winning team would also earn a spot in the regionals.

There will also be a 10-member All-Patriot League Team based on finish at the championship. The top five finishers (including ties) make the first-team squad, and all remaining finishers up to 10th place (including ties) qualify for the second-team.

Army took first place in the Patriot League Men's Golf Championship poll earlier in the month with 89 points and seven first-place votes, while Loyola was right behind with 88 points and eight-first place votes. Navy (71), Lehigh (70/1 first-place vote), Bucknell (45), Lafayette (39), Colgate (31) and Holy Cross (15) completed the poll order.

The men's golf spring season started as early as mid-February for a handful of Patriot League schools, and featured events with multiple League teams in the field. Loyola was ahead of Navy at the Snowman Getaway on Feb. 24-25 and in front of Bucknell at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate on March 23-25, while Army (2nd), Lehigh (12th) and Bucknell (16th) all competed at the Wildcat Invitational on March 31-April 1. Bucknell (4th), Colgate (10th), Lehigh (12th) and Lafayette (14th) competed in the Lafayette Invitational on April 6-7, while last weekend's Navy Spring Invitational featured the host Mids (2nd), Bucknell (12th), Colgate (13th) and Lafayette (15th).

Lehigh enters the tournament as the defending Patriot League champion, as the Mountains Hawks won the event on their home course in 2013 by seven strokes over Navy with Army, Bucknell, Lafayette, Holy Cross and Colgate following in order.

Navy senior Chris House returns after winning the individual title last season by one stroke over Army's Marcus Plunkett, who is also back after claiming the Rookie of the Year honor as the highest finishing freshman in the field. The top nine finishers from last year are back as Lehigh's Alex DiClemente and Harley Abrams and Bucknell's Schuyler Stitzer joined House and Plunkett as first-team All-Patriot League picks, while Navy's August Jonas and Drew Selby and Army's Robby Hill and Lehigh's Carlos Kim made the second team by finishing in the top nine. Freshmen Jared Mactas (Lafayette) and Matt Oshrine (Loyola) also join the field after winning Patriot League monthly awards during the 2013-14 campaign.
