James Greene
Greene was promoted to Assistant Media Relations Director in June 2010 after first joining the Patriot League the previous January as its Media and External Relations Assistant. He handles the League's day-to-day media outreach for 10 sports, including women's basketball, men's lacrosse, men and women's soccer, volleyball, softball, men and women's swimming and men and women's tennis. He also assists with the League's championship administration and its multimedia initiatives. Before coming to the League, Greene interned in the athletic media relations department at Holy Cross from July to November 2009, where he assisted with the media responsibilities of the men and women's golf, rowing, tennis and cross country teams. He aided in the relaunch of GoHolyCross.com, the school's official athletics website, wrote feature stories for various school-based outlets and assisted with other sports information tasks. A native of Scotch Plains, N.J., Greene graduated from Holy Cross in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in history and embarked on a career in broadcasting. After a three-month stint at WRNJ-AM in Hackettstown, N.J., he joined WSUS-FM in Franklin, N.J. in September 2002 as a stringer at high school football games. He spent a total of six years as an on-air broadcaster in northwestern New Jersey, adding disc jockey, news reporter and football play-by-play and color commentator to his list of duties. He left radio in September 2008 to focus on a master's degree in sport management from East Stroudsburg (Pa.) University, which he completed in December 2009. |
