Patriot League Announces Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards (2.5.2019)

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Navy senior Lauren Barber closed her dual-meet career with 100 individual victories to help her seventh Patriot League Female Swimmer of the Week honor this season while adding to her League record 20th of her career.
 
The Navy women’s swimming and diving program defeated the University of Richmond 135.5 to 93.5 last weekend to end their regular season with a 10-3 record. Barber won the 200-yard IM (2:02.10), 500-yard freestyle (4:56.37) and swam the breaststroke leg of the winning 400-yard medley relay (3:44.89). The Mids’ freshman Hannah Montau claimed her fifth Patriot League Female Diver of the Week this season after placing first on the 3-meter dive (309.60) and second on the 1-meter dive (253.80) against Richmond.
 
Navy freshman Caleb Mauldin earned his first Patriot League Male Swimmer of the Week after winning two individual events at the Bucknell Invite. Mauldin won the 100-yard backstroke (50.95) and 200-yard backstroke (1:50.76). He also swam the butterfly leg of the second-place 200-yard medley relay (1:34.85).
 
American sophomore Lily Koenig earned honorable mention for winning both backstroke events at the Bucknell Invite.
 
2019 Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championship
The 2019 Patriot League Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship will take place from Wednesday, Feb. 20, through Saturday, Feb. 23, at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa. All 10 Patriot League schools will compete.

PATRIOT LEAGUE MALE SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Caleb Mauldin, Navy, Fr., Chesapeake, Va./Hickory
*Mauldin won the 100-yard backstroke at the Bucknell Invite in a time of 50.95.
*He also won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 1:50.76.
*Mauldin was part of the second-place 200-yard medley relay team that finished in a time of 1:34.85, 1.95 seconds behind the first-place relay team also from Navy.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE FEMALE SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Lauren Barber, Navy, Sr., New Wilmington, Pa./Wilmington
*Barber won the 200-yard IM (2:02.10) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:56.37) against Richmond.
*Her two individual victories allows her to close her dual-meet career with 100 individual wins, 32 in the 2018-2019 season alone.
*Barber also swam the breaststroke leg on the winning 400-yard medley relay (3:44.89).

PATRIOT LEAGUE FEMALE DIVER OF THE WEEK
Hannah Montau, Navy, Fr., Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley

*Montau placed first in the 3-meter dive with a season-best score of 309.60.
*She also placed second in the 1-meter dive scoring 253.80 points.
*Montau’s first and second-place dives helped the Mids defeat Richmond 135.5-93.5.
 
HONORABLE MENTION
Lily Koenig, American, So., Boxford, Mass./Masconomet Regional
*Koenig won both the 100-yard backstroke (58.04) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:06.72) at the Bucknell Invite.
 
*Note: There were no nominations for Patriot League Male Diver of the Week this week.
