CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — The Army West Point men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams swept the Patriot League weekly awards when the League office announced winners on Tuesday.
The Army West Point men’s swimming and diving team claimed three victories over George Mason (176-119), American (220-61), and Old Dominion (213-83). The Black Knight women also claimed victories over George Mason (184-111), American (213.5-78.5), and Old Dominion (199-96). Army West Point senior Thomas Ottman was named the Patriot League Male Swimmer of the Week after winning the 500-yard freestyle (436.02) and the 1,650-yard freestyle (15:56.58). Senior Kara Wineinger was named female swimmer of the week for winning both breaststroke events (100-yard breaststroke – 1:03.98, 200-yard breaststroke – 2:20.26) and swimming the second leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay (1:45.53).
Freshman Daniel Alaimo claimed his first Patriot League Male Diver of the Week honor after posting two season-best scores. He scored 300.85 on the 1-meter dive and 265.20 on the 3-meter dive. Junior Serica Hallstead earned her third consecutive Patriot League Female Diver of the Week award for placing first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive at the quad meet. Her 1-meter score of 273.67 was a season-best.
Honorable mentions go to Boston University sophomore Judson Balding, Holy Cross senior Steve Tierney, Boston University senior Julimar Avila, Holy Cross freshman Katy Saladin, Boston University senior Cameron Schoffstall and Boston University freshman Katherine Russack.

Thomas Ottman, Army West Point, Sr., Scottsdale, Ariz./Brophy College Preparatory
*Ottman won the 500-yard freestyle (4:36.02) and the 1,650-yard freestyle (15:56.58).
*He also posted a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:41.75.
FEMALE SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Kara Wineinger, Army West Point, Sr., Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge
*Wineinger won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.98) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.26) at a quad meet against George Mason, American and Old Dominion.
*She swam the second leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay (1:45.53).
*Wineinger’s first place swim helped the Black Knights earn victories over George Mason, American and Old Dominion.
MALE DIVER OF THE WEEK
Daniel Alaimo, Army West Point, Fr., West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown
*Alaimo placed second on the 1-meter dive with a score of 300.85.
*He placed fourth on the 3-meter dive with a score of 265.20.
*His scores on the 1-meter and 3-meter were both season bests.
FEMALE DIVER OF THE WEEK
Serica Hallstead, Army West Point, Sr., Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua Academy
*Hallstead placed first on the 1-meter dive with a season-best score of 275.60.
*She also placed first on the 3-meter dive with a score of 266.10.
HONORABLE MENTION
Judson Balding, Boston University, So., Irvine, Calif./Northwood
*Balding tallied two individual first-place finishes in the 50-yard breaststroke (26.79) and the 100-yard freestyle (46.52) to help Boston University defeat Bryant.
Steve Tierney, Holy Cross, Sr., Pleasantville, N.Y. /Fordham Prep
*Tierney had three individual victories against Providence in the 100-yard freestyle (53.05), 200-yard freestyle (1:56.80), and 100-yard butterfly (58.46).
Julimar Avila, Boston University, Sr., Hyde Park, Mass./Weston
*Avila had a pair of triumphs – 50-yard breaststroke (30.67) and 50-yard butterfly (25.66) – and was part of the winning 200-yard medley relay (1:48.83) that helped Boston University defeat Bryant.
Katy Saladin, Holy Cross, Fr., Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde
*Saladin won the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.10), 200-yard backstroke (2:24.48), and was part of the winning 200-medley relay (2:03.56) against Providence.
Cameron Schoffstall, Boston University, Sr., Weatogue, Conn./Simsbury
*Schoffstall placed first in the 1-meter dive (255.15) and second in the 3-meter dive (251.75) against Bryant.
Katherine Russack, Boston University, Fr., Old Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich
*Russack placed first in both the 1-meter dive (255.22) and the 3-meter dive (276.25) against Bryant.
