Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week Announced (2.26.18)
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Three Patriot League programs split the four Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Weekly honors, as Navy sophomore attacker Kelly Larkin was named the attacker of the week Lehigh sophomore Sondra Dickey and graduate student defender Julianne D’Orazio earned midfielder and defender of the week, respectively and Loyola Maryland freshman attacker Livy Rosenzweig captured rookie of the week, when awards were announced by the League office on Monday.
Larkin, the 2017 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, earned Attacker of the Week after tallying five points in a comeback, 11-10 win over Michigan, on Sunday. Dickey picked up her second midfielder of the week honor, this season, after recording a career-high five points, to go along with five draw controls and four ground balls, while D’Orazio picked up five ground balls, five draw controls and caused four turnovers in Lehigh’s 13-12 win over Columbia. Rosenzweig totaled seven points and 11 draw controls in her first collegiate action, against two ranked opponents.
Boston University sophomore Kailey Conry had a League-high nine points last week, dishing out six assists in a win over UMass Lowell, while Loyola Maryland senior attacker Frankie Kamely scored six goals in two games against No. 22 Johns Hopkins and No. 3 Florida to make the weekly honorable mention list. Colgate senior Haley O’Hanlon scored four goals and had five draw controls to lead Colgate over Siena, while Navy junior defender picked up a team-high six ground balls and tied for a team-high two caused turnovers to aid the Mids’ win.
NAVY AND LOYOLA MARYLAND IN THE POLLS
Navy came back from a four-goal deficit to defeat Michigan, 11-10 on Sunday and move up one spot to No. 8 in this week’s Inside Lacrosse Poll. They slip back to No. 11 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll. Loyola Maryland is currently receiving votes in the media poll and remain at No. 23 in the coaches’ poll, after losses to current No. 19/20 Johns Hopkins and No. 6/4 Florida
PATRIOT LEAGUE VS. RANKED OPPONENTS
The Greyhounds dropped a pair of close games to ranked opponents last week, dropping the season-opener to then No. 23/22 Johns Hopkins, 14-11, before falling to then No. 4/3 Florida, 17-16.
UPCOMING GAMES
Patriot League programs will be in action from Monday through Sunday with 17 games during that span. Holy Cross opens the week at home on Monday night against Villanova, with live streaming coverage on the
Patriot League Network (PLN). Lehigh hosts Princeton on the PLN on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., while No. 8/11 Navy takes on No. 2/6 Boston College in a rematch of last season’s NCAA Tournament semifinal matchup. Wednesday brings three more games on the PLN with Howard at American (1 p.m.), Iona at Army West Point (3 p.m.) and Manhattan at Lafayette (7 p.m.). Saturday features six more games, highlighted by Loyola Maryland taking on its third-straight ranked opponent, when they travel to No. 15/13 Penn State. Two more games will be on the PLN on Saturday, including Siena at Army West Point (1 p.m.) and UMass Lowell at Colgate (1 p.m.). Three more Patriot League women’s lacrosse teams will be in action on Sunday, as Boston University heads to No. 14/16 Duke and Lafayette hosts East Carolina, with live coverage on the PLN beginning at 1 p.m. Holy Cross concludes the weekend with a 3 p.m. start time at Stetson.

ATTACKER OF THE WEEK
Kelly Larkin, Navy, Attacker, So., Alexandria, Va./Bishop Ireton
Larkin scored four goals and had one assist in Navy’s 11-10 comeback win over Michigan on Sunday afternoon. The sophomore attacker scored three of her goals in the second half to help the Mids overcome a four-goal deficit. She assisted Andie O’Sullivan’s goal to bring Navy within one, at 8-7, then scored the game-tying goal moments later.
MIDFIELDER OF THE WEEK
Sondra Dickey, Lehigh, Midfielder, So., Paoli, Pa./Conestoga
Dickey tied career-highs with four goals and five points, while also picking up four ground balls and tying for a team-high five draw controls in the Mountain Hawks’ 13-12 win over Columbia on Saturday. All four of Dickey’s goals came after the half to help Lehigh overcome a two-goal halftime deficit.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Julianne D’Orazio, Lehigh, Defender, G.S., Bryn Mawr, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy
D’Orazio picked up five ground balls, had five draw controls and caused four turnovers in Lehigh’s 13-12 win over Columbia on Saturday afternoon. The graduate student defender reached the 100 career caused turnovers and 100 career draw controls during the game. She also scored four goals on seven shots in the winning effort.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Livy Rosenzweig, Loyola Maryland, Attack, Fr., Katonah, N.Y./Somers
Rosenzweig finished with three goals, four assists, three ground balls and 10 draw controls against a pair of ranked opponents in her first week of collegiate action. The freshman attacker made her debut against No. 22 Johns Hopkins, scoring one goal and dishing out two assists. Against No. 3 Florida, Rosenzweig had two goals, two assists, three ground balls and 10 draw controls.
HONORABLE MENTION
Haley O’Hanlon, Colgate, Midfielder, Sr., Garden City, N.Y./Garden City
O’Hanlon scored a season-high four goals and had five draw controls in Colgate’s victory over Siena on Wednesday. She now has 166 draw controls and 98 goals for her career.
Marie Valenti, Navy, Defender, Jr., Bechtelsville, Pa./Boyertown
Valenti picked up a career-high six ground balls and tied for the team-lead with two caused turnovers in Navy’s comeback victory over Michigan on Sunday. The junior defender caused a turnover that led to Kelly Larkin’s game-tying goal with eight minutes remaining in the game.

Conry matched a career-high with nine points, scoring three goals and dishing out six assists in Boston University’s 14-10 win over UMass Lowell. The sophomore attacker also had two ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Kamely led the Greyhounds with four goals in a 17-16 loss to No. 3 Florida on Sunday afternoon. The senior attacker also had two goals in the Greyhounds loss to No. 22 Johns Hopkins on Wednesday.
