Bucknell’s Fay, Salisbury and Forker; Army West Point’s Maddox and Young; Boston University’s Fowlkes earn individual honors
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Bucknell captured three of the six M-F Athletic Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Weekly Awards, as the trio of senior Matt Fay, senior Kaitlyn Salisbury and freshman Karly Forker were selected male field athlete of the week, female field athlete of the week and female rookie of the week, respectively when the League office announced weekly honors on Tuesday.
Army West Point junior Tyrell Maddox was selected as the M-F Athletic Patriot League Male Track Athlete of the Week, while freshman teammate Justin Young was named male rookie of the week.
Boston University junior Leah Fowlkes was named the M-F Athletic Patriot League Female Track Athlete of the Week.
2018-19 PATRIOT LEAGUE INDOOR TRACK & FIELD SEASON UNDERWAY
The 2018-19 Patriot League Indoor Track & Field season kicked off last weekend with eight of the nine men’s teams and nine of the ten women’s teams competing. American traveled to Navy for the Navy Winter Invitational; Army West Point hosted the Crowell Open; Boston University hosted the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener that included Holy Cross; Bucknell hosted the Bison Opener that included the women from Lafayette; Colgate competed in the Greg Page Relays at Cornell; and Lehigh hosted the Lehigh Season Opener.
UP NEXT FOR PATRIOT LEAGUE INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD
Five Patriot League programs will be in action this week as the Holy Cross men will travel to Rhode Island Thursday and Friday for the Rhode Island Heptathlon, while the Holy Cross women will be compete at Rhode Island Pentathlon on Friday, before they both head to Northeastern University’s Howlin’ Husky Invitational on Saturday.
Lehigh will host the Fast Times Before Finals Invitational on Friday and Saturday, which will also include Lafayette. Colgate travels to Utica, N.Y. for Saturday’s Pioneer Winter Classic and the Loyola women will travel to Princeton for the New Year Invitational, also on Saturday.
M-F ATHLETIC PATRIOT LEAGUE MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Tyrell Maddox, Army West Point, Jr., Sprinter, Delaware Valley, Pa.
*Competing at the Crowell Open, Maddox won the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:04.60, which was the top Patriot League time for that distance last weekend.
*Maddox also helped the team to a first-place title in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:18.18, tops in the Patriot League and the sixth-best time in NCAA DI currently.
M-F ATHLETIC PATRIOT LEAGUE FEMALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Leah Fowlkes, Boston University, Jr., Sprinter, Fort Washington, Md.
*Competing at the Sharon Colyear-Danville BU Season Opener, Fowlkes won the women’s 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 24.13 seconds.
*Fowlkes currently leads the Patriot League in the 200-meter event, along with having the second-best time in NCAA DI.

Matt Fay, Bucknell, Sr., Vaulter, New Rochelle, N.Y.
*Competing at the Bison Opener, Fay won the pole vault with an IC4A-qualifying vault of 4.90-meters (16’0.75”).
* Fay currently leads the Patriot League and is ranked 12th in NCAA DI.

Kaitlyn Salisbury, Bucknell, Sr., Jumper/Sprinter, Hawthorne, N.J.
*At the Bison Opener, Salisbury broke a 20-year old school record and qualified for the ECAC’s with 5.88-meter (19’3.5”) long jump, while currently sitting on top of the League standings and seventh in NCAA DI for that event.
*Salisbury also had the meet’s top 60-meter dash with a time of 7.63 seconds, currently the best in the Patriot League and 16th in NCAA DI.

Justin Young, Army West Point, Fr., Hurdler, Wylie, Tex.
*At the Crowell Open, Young won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.01 seconds.
*The time leads the Patriot League and is fifth-best in NCAA DI for the event.
M-F ATHLETIC PATRIOT LEAGUE FEMALE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Karly Forker, Bucknell, Fr., Middle-Distance, Landing, N.J.
* Competing in her first collegiate meet at the Bison Opener, Forker won the women’s 800-meter run with a time of 2:18.73.
* She currently has the second-best time in the League and is ranked 19th in NCAA DI for the 800-meter event.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Demetrius Lanier, Navy, Sr., Sprinter, Palm Coast, Fla.
*Competing at the Navy Winter Invitational, Lanier posted a trio of IC4A-qualifying times by placing fifth in the 60-meter dash in 6.94 seconds, finishing second in the 200-meter dash in 21.72 seconds, and as a member of the fourth-place 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:19.67.
Calli McMullen, Army West Point, Jr., Sprinter, Haddock, Ga.
*At the Crowell Open, McMullen won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.65, currently the second-best time in the Patriot League.
*She also won the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.09 seconds, currently the second-best time in the League, while also helping the team to a first-place title in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:58.00, tops in the League and 32nd in NCAA DI.
Christa Jay Moore, Holy Cross, So., Vaulter, Hubbardston, Mass.
*At the Sharon Colyear-Danville BU Season Opener, Moore won the pole vault with ECAC qualifying vault of 3.80-meters (12’5.5”)
*In the pole vault, she currently leads the League and is ranked 20th in NCAA DI.
Sarah Cicchetti, Boston University, Jr., Thrower, Greenwich, Conn.
*At the Sharon Colyear-Danville BU Season Opener, Cicchetti broke a 31-year old school record in the weight throw with a toss of 17.27-meters (56’8”).
*She currently ranks second in the Patriot League and 23rd in NCAA DI in the weight throw event.
