CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Holy Cross sophomore guard Jacob Grandison was named the Patriot League Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Navy freshman guard John Carter Jr. claimed rookie of the week when the League office announced weekly awards on Monday.
Grandison averaged 20.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists to lead the Crusaders to a 2-1 week, while earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team at the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic. This is Grandison’s first career Patriot League weekly honor.
Carter Jr. captured his first rookie of the week honor of the season after averaging 9.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in the Mids’ 2-0 week.
Navy senior forward George Kiernan, Lehigh senior guard Kyle Leufroy and Boston University sophomore guard Javante McCoy each earned weekly honorable mention.
The Patriot League men’s basketball players of the week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s sports information director, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.
PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

*Grandison averaged 20.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists to help Holy Cross go 2-1 with wins over Stony Brook and Siena last week.
*He recorded his first career double-double with 21 points and 10 assists, to go along with eight rebounds in a victory over Stony Brook on Friday.
*Grandison scored a career-high 24 points to lead the Crusaders over Siena on Sunday and was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Classic.
PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S BASKETBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
John Carter Jr., Navy, Fr., G, Spring Hill, Tenn./Summit
*Carter averaged 9.0 points and 5.5 rebounds to help Navy go 2-0 with wins over Coppin State and Bryant.
*The freshman guard finished with 10 points, hitting 2-of-4 shots from deep, while pulling down seven rebounds in a 77-58 win over Coppin State.
*Carter had eight points and four rebounds in the Mids’ 83-79 win over Bryant on Sunday.
HONORABLE MENTIONS

*Kiernan averaged 17.5 points and 8.5 rebounds to lead Navy to victories over Coppin State and Bryant last week. He finished with 21 points and nine rebounds in the 77-58 win over Coppin State for the third 20-point game of his career.
Kyle Leufroy, Lehigh, Sr., G, Pasadena, Calif./Beneficia (Prolific Prep)
*Leufroy scored a career-high 23 points in a comeback, 78-72, win over Marist on Tuesday and finished with 10 points and nine rebounds in a 72-57 win over Princeton on Friday.
Javante McCoy, Boston University, So., G, Milwaukee, Wis./Phillips Exeter Academy (N.H.)
*McCoy averaged 17.5 points to lead Boston University in a 1-1 week. He shot 61.9 percent from the floor (13-of-21), including 66.7 percent from 3-point range (8-of-12).
