Patriot League Announces Corvias Baseball Weekly Awards (3.21.17)
 
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Navy freshman designated hitter Evan Lowery became the fourth different Midshipmen to earn the Patriot League Baseball Corvias Player of the Week when awards were announced on Tuesday afternoon. Lehigh freshman right-handed pitcher Levi Stoudt was named the Corvias Pitcher and Rookie of the Week after helping the Mountain Hawks become the first team this season to shutout North Dakota State over the weekend.
 
Lowery batted .583 (7-for-12) for the week, hitting for the cycle during the second game of a Saturday doubleheader against New York Tech. Stoudt shutout the Bison over 7.0 innings while striking out a career-high 11.
 
NAVY IN MIDST OF NINE-GAME WINNING STREAK
Navy has won its last nine games and 10-of-11 to improve to a Patriot League-best 12-7. During the Mids’ nine-consecutive wins they have outscored opponents 88-28. During the stretch sophomore RHP Noah Song, senior RHP George Coughlin and senior RHP Jett Meenach have each earned two wins.
 
BUCKNELL BACK TO .500 TAKING 2-of-3 FROM UMASS
Junior RHP Connor Van Hoose tossed a gem in the Bison’s 3-1 victory over UMass on Saturday. The Alexandria, Va. native tossed 7.2 innings, with a career-high 12 strikeouts with just one unearned run scoring. Junior outfielder Chuckie Scales continues to hit, batting .538 during a 2-3 week for Bucknell, while extending his hit streak to nine games.
 
ARMY WEST POINT SWEEPS ALABAMA STATE TAKES ONE FROM PRESBYTERIAN IN WINNING WEEK
The Black Knights turned in a 3-2 week, taking two games from Alabama State during the week, including 5-4 win in 14 innings last Wednesday. Army also earned a 9-5 win over Presbyterian over the weekend behind a combined six RBIs from second baseman Kris Lindner and right fielder Matt Hudgins.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE LEADERS
*Army West Point is 17th in NCAA Division I, having turned 21 double plays. 
*Lafayette’s Dan Leckie leads the League with four home runs, while Navy’s Leland Saile leads the Patriot League with 18 RBIs.
*Lehigh’s Jacen Nalesnik is 27th in the nation and first in the League, averaging 1.30 runs per game.
*Navy’s Logan Knowles is 9th in the NCAA in runs per game (1.37) and 20th in the nation with 10 stolen bases. Teammate Leland Saile is 27th in the nation averaging 1.32 RBIs per game. 
*Holy Cross reliever George Capen is 42nd in NCAA Division I with a 1.17 earned-run average. 
*Bucknell’s Connor Van Hoose is 35th in the nation in strikeouts per nine innings (12.51), while Van Hoose and Navy’s Noah Song are tied for 41st with 38 strikeouts.

CORVIAS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
EVAN LOWERY, Navy, Fr., DH, Williamsburg, Va.
Lowery had an impressive weekend, batting .583 (7-for-12), while reaching base at a .643 clip and slugging 1.250. Four of his seven hits were for extra bases, with one double, two triples and a home run, while he drove in five runs and scored three playing in three games of Navy’s four-game sweep of New York Tech. The freshman slugger went 1-for-3 and walked once, driving in two runs in the first game of the series. He hit for the cycle, going 4-for-5, scoring twice and driving in two runs in a 12-0 win in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader. He finished the weekend going 2-for-4, with a walk, while scoring once and driving in another run.
 
CORVIAS PITCHER AND ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
LEVI STOUDT, LEHIGH, Fr., RHP, Pennsburg, Pa.
Stoudt scattered five hits over 7.0 shutout innings, while striking out 11 and walking one to help Lehigh defeat North Dakota State, 4-0 on Wednesday. The rookie right-hander allowed just three runners to reach scoring position and one extra-base hit, while holding NDSU scoreless for the first time this season. His 11 strikeouts are the most by a Lehigh pitcher this season.

HONORABLE MENTION
QUENTIN BUBB, LAFAYETTE Jr., OF, Germantown, Md.
Bubb batted .533 (8-for-15), while walking twice and scoring six runs during an 0-4 weekend for Lafayette. The junior leadoff hitter reached base at a .632 clip, while he slugged .600 for the week.
 
GEORGE COUGHLIN, NAVY, Sr., RHP, Arvada, Colo.
Coughlin allowed just three hits through 6.0 shutout innings, while striking out eight and walking none to earn a win in Navy’s 12-0 drubbing of New York Tech on Saturday afternoon. The senior righty’s eight strikeouts is a season-high, while he posted the first shutout of the season for the Mids. Coughlin is 2-1 on the season.
 
ANTHONY CRITELLI, HOLY CROSS, Sr., 1B, Holmdel, N.J.
Critelli hit .400 (4-for-10) and slugged .700 during a 1-1 weekend for the Crusaders.  The senior first baseman hit a walk-off home run in Holy Cross’s 3-2 win over Wagner. He went 3-for-5 with an RBI in a 6-2 loss against the Seahawks.
 
CONNOR VAN HOOSE, BUCKNELL, Jr., RHP, Alexandria, Va.
Van Hoose earned a victory for the Bison over UMass, pitching 7.2 innings, while allowing just three hits and one unearned run. The junior right-hander walked one and struck out a career-high 12 batters. Van Hoose is now 2-2 with a 2.63 earned-run average in five starts.
