The Patriot League held its second annual Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Fall Retreat in Philadelphia, Pa. from Saturday, Oct. 13 through Sunday, Oct.14. Two representatives from each of the Patriot League's institutions met to discuss hot topics, share ideas and become involved in the NCAA legislative process.

Sixteen student-athletes came together on Saturday afternoon at the Latham Hotel near Philly's Rittenhouse Square to kick off the retreat with the first of two sessions. The main focus of Saturday's meeting was to tackle the subject of environmentally sound practices and to discuss the "Think Green" concept. Prior to the retreat, each student-athlete was asked to do some investigative work on their campus as to what is already being done and bring that knowledge to Saturday's discussion. The representatives broke up into groups to further discuss the "Think Green" concept to try to find the best ways to gain the support of the student body at each Patriot League school and ways in which to educate and lead by example.

The group was able to get to know one another better and cut loose Saturday evening at Dave and Buster's restaurant on the Delaware River near Penn's Landing. The activities at Dave and Buster's included dinner and access to the expansive game room, featuring such classics as skee ball, basketball shootout and video games.

The Patriot League SAAC reconvened on Sunday morning to go over campus updates and NCAA legislation. Each school updated the group on the status of their campus SAAC, including community service, promotional events, SAAC initiatives as well as any hot topics their school is currently discussing.

Kerry Kenny, the Patriot League's NCAA SAAC Representative, closed out the meeting with the presentation of proposed legislation. Kenny educated the group on the legislative items that the National SAAC asked for feedback on in preparation for their November meeting. Kenny, a 2007 graduate of Lafayette College, serves as the Vice-Chair of the NCAA SAAC and is the Media and External Relations Assistant at the Patriot League office.

Those in attendance at the 2007 Patriot League Fall SAAC Retreat were American's Josh Glenn and Jessica Reinhardt, Army's Diana Alquero and Christine Limsiaco, Bucknell's Devon Mitchell and Kim Weaver, Colgate's Ashley Mecone and Wil Redmond, Holy Cross' Casey Harvell and Rory Ogden, Lafayette's Jeff Butler and Kevin Reese, Lehigh's Stu Baxter and Will Robinson and Navy's Antoinette Carter and Tyrell Arment.
