Patriot League Announces Sites and Dates For 2008-09 Championships

Center Valley, Pa.- The sites and dates have been set for the 2008-09 Patriot League Championships, beginning with the Cross Country Championship, which will take place Saturday, Nov. 1 at Lehigh University.

The cross country event kicks off the fall slate of four championships. The Patriot League Field Hockey (Nov. 7-8), Women's Soccer (Nov. 7 and 9), Men's Soccer (Nov. 14 and 16) and Volleyball (Nov. 21 and 22) championships will feature four-team fields and will be played at the site of the No. 1 seed.

In the winter, the Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championship will be held at Bucknell University's Arthur D. Kinney, Jr. Natatorium Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 19-21, 2009, and the Indoor Track and Field Championship will be held at the Wesley Brown Field House at the U.S. Naval Academy on Feb. 20-22.

The Patriot League Men's Basketball Tournament will begin on March 4 with the quarterfinals, followed by the semifinals on March 8 and the Championship contest on March 13, 2009 at 4:45 p.m. on ESPN2. All rounds will be played at the site of the higher seed.

The Patriot League Women's Basketball Tournament opens up with the quarterfinals and semifinals on March 7 and 8, 2009 at Lehigh University's Stabler Arena. The League Championship will be contested on March 11, 2009 on ESPNU at the site of the higher seed.

The spring schedule opens up with the Patriot League Men's Tennis Championship from April 17-19, 2009 at the Malek Tennis Center on the campus of the U.S. Military Academy.

The Women's Tennis Championship will be held at the Varsity Tennis Courts on the campus of Bucknell University, Friday through Sunday, Apr. 24-26. It will kick off a weekend with five Patriot League championships, including the Golf Championship to be held Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26 at the West Point Golf Course at the U.S. Military Academy and the Patriot League Rowing Championship on April 26 at the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.

The Patriot League Men's and Women's Lacrosse Championships will also be contested on April 24 and 26 as four-team fields at the sites of the No. 1 seed.

The Patriot League Outdoor Track Championship is set for Friday and Saturday, May 1 and 2 at the U.S. Military Academy's Shea Stadium.

The championship schedule wraps up with softball and baseball. The Patriot League Softball Championship at the site of the No. 1 seed on May 7-9, while the Patriot League Baseball Championship includes weekends for the semifinals (May 9 and 10 and Championship (May 16 and 17) with each series played at the site of the higher seed.
