Five Patriot League Representatives Set for 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics

Center Valley, Pa. - An active men's swimming student-athlete, a former men's basketball star and three current coaches will all carry the Patriot League banner in the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, which begin with the opening ceremonies on August 8 and run until August 24.

Army's Stewart Glenister, who just completed his freshman year at West Point, will represent American Samoa as he competes in the men's 50-meter freestyle swimming event. Glenister took part in the 100 and 200-meter butterfly at the 2008 Patriot League Championship.

Former Bucknell star J.R. Holden will play on Russia's men's basketball team. A two-time First-Team All-Patriot League honoree (1997 and 1998) and member of the 1997 Patriot League All-Tournament team, the 1998 Bucknell graduate scored 1,327 points and tallied 311 assists in his career with the Bison.

Lafayette assistant coach Amy Tran will compete on the first United States field hockey team to take part in the Summer games since 1996. A 2002 graduate of the University of North Carolina, Tran joined the Lafayette coaching staff in 2007. She has served as the goalkeeper on the national squad since 2003.

American Field Hockey Head Coach Steve Jennings and Army Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Head Coach Mickey Wender will serve as coaches for their sports. Jennings is an assistant on the 2008 United States field hockey squad, while Wender will serve as the head coach for American Samoa's swimming team.
