CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Six student-athletes who competed in Patriot League sports this winter and spring were named to the Capital One Academic All-District teams by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.

Three female and three male student-athletes earned recognition. All six earned first-team honors and advance to the national Academic All-America ballot. Voting will be conducted this month, with the Academic All-America list due to be released June 5.

Navy has a pair of selections, with Army, Bucknell, Loyola and MIT having one apiece. In addition, four of the six honorees are seniors.

A pair of Patriot League scholar-athletes, Loyola men's lacrosse player Joe Fletcher and Navy swimmer Ellen Bradford, made the CoSIDA Academic All-District teams. Bradford, a sophomore, has a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average majoring in systems engineering and Fletcher has a 3.812 grade point average majoring in Accounting while pursuing a minor in Information Systems.

Army junior swimmer Kristen Barta (3.964 GPA, Law & Legal Studies) and Bucknell senior swimmer Trevor Reitz (3.97, Biology) were named to their respective Academic All-Patriot League teams earlier this year. MIT senior rower Erin Meyer (4.00, Mechanical Engineering) and Navy senior swimmer Luke Hoffer (3.32, Applied Math) also are on the CoSIDA Academic All-District teams.

In addition, Navy junior Joshua Steves (men's gymnastics) was nominated in a non-Patriot League sport.

In order to be eligible for the district ballot, student-athletes must have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30, be at least a sophomore academically and a starter or key player on their respective team. The sports that make up the at-large list include women's bowling, women's crew, fencing, women's field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, men's volleyball, water polo and men's wrestling.

District 1 is comprised of student-athletes from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. District 2 includes Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
