CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- The Patriot League and Sport Changes Life Foundation announced on Thursday an extension of their partnership with the Victory Scholarship program which will increase the number of annual post-graduate scholarships given to the League's student-athletes.

The Patriot League entered into a partnership with Sport Changes Life Foundation in December of 2009 to facilitate opportunities for student-athletes to secure a Graduate Development International Scholarship. The partnership enables graduates from Patriot League institutions to apply for graduate school sport scholarships in a University in Ireland.

The Foundation allows student-athletes to continue their athletic and academic careers by both playing on a club team and studying in a graduate program at an Irish or Northern Irish university. The Victory Scholarship Program assists deserving students in obtaining a scholarship package to study at Masters level in Ireland. While studying and competing they also work in the wider community with young people gaining valuable life experiences that will help them develop on a personal and professional level.

"We are honored to have a partnership with the Patriot League and are excited to have the opportunity to select from some of the United States most elite student athletes from an outstanding group of colleges," said Gareth Maguire, CEO of Sport Changes Life Foundation. "These future Victory Scholars will help change the lives and strive to raise the aspirations of young people we work with in our local communities in Ireland. We offer one of the most unique masters programs that we have developed over the past six years with our founding partners the University of Ulster. Since then our university partners have evolved into a list of the most prestigious Universities in Ireland such as, NUI Galway, The University of Limerick and Trinity College Dublin. We look forward to working alongside the Patriot League and embracing the best they have to offer on our prestigious Victory Scholarship program. Previous graduates of the Victory Scholarship and Patriot League have left a legacy with the young people and communities in Ireland, Sport Changes Life is honored to continue the development of this key partnership with the Patriot League."

"Enhancing our partnership with Sport Changes Life Foundation provides a great opportunity for Patriot League student-athletes to continue their academic and athletic careers while showing leadership in mentoring young people in the community," said Carolyn Femovich, Executive Director of the Patriot League. "The Patriot League looks forward to sending accomplished student-athletes to receive graduate school experience and athletic competition with the Victory Scholarship program."

Former Lafayette standout Jared Mintz is currently participating in the Victory Scholarship program this year, adding to six former Patriot League student-athletes who have taken part in the past.
