Live Chat With Colgate Senior Quarterback Mike Saraceno

Join the Patriot League on Tuesday, Aug. 1 at 11:30 a.m., for a live chat with Colgate senior quarterback Mike Saraceno from the 2006 Patriot League Football Media Day in Bethlehem, Pa.

Please note, you may begin asking questions immediately, however Mike will not be answering questions until August 1 at 11:30 a.m.

pennsylvania: how concerned are you about the loss of your entire defensive line? do you think the underclassmen will step up to the task?

pennsylvania: how concerned are you about the loss of your entire defensive line? do you think the underclassmen will step up to the task?
Mike Saraceno: There are a lot of freshman and underclassmen who are going to step up, especially with the leadership we have on the defense, coming from Geoff Bean and Mike Gallihugh.

Donn Williams (Miami, FL): Mike-After all the adversity you have faced in your career with the passing of your Mother, the ACL Surgery, the Separated Shoulder, and so much more, how does it feel to be the conference's leading passer going for another Patriot League Championship as a Pre-Season All American Captain for your team?
Mike Saraceno: I appreciate the oppourtunity and blessed with another year to play football. I appreciate the preseason all-american, but it is a long season ahead.

John (Easton): Outside of Lafayette and Lehigh, who will be your most challenging PL opponent?
Mike Saraceno: Over the last few years, most games in the Patriot League has come down to the fourth quarter. So, you really can not say who is going to be the most challenging opponent, because the Patriot League is so competitive.

Michael Walsh (Chicago): Colgate teams have traditionally started slowly, often losing their first and second games before picking it up and playing better. Is this year's squad focused on overcoming this pattern? If so, what does it plan to do differently to beat its first opponent?
Mike Saraceno: The pattern that has been created throughout the years doesn't mean much or affect our focus this offseason. Our determination this offseason will come into play as the season starts beginning week one.

Yonkers: how will you and your team fill the void on the offessive line?
Mike Saraceno: Our offensive line leading with Jake Sulovski at center is going to play a major role in leading our offensive line. With three returning starters, our offensine is going to be solid.

John (Norwich): How's the back-up QB spot looking in case something happens to you? Could they keep the team rolling until your return?
Mike Saraceno: With the addition of Ryan Myers and last-year's backup Lee Sloan returning, the backup role is up for grabs. With solid play from both of them in the spring, we won't miss a beat if either of them needs to play.

Barb Mushel: Hi Mike, How is your shoulder ? We want to wish you guys a great season and are looking forward to football season. Say hi to your Dad for us..... Go 'Gate Barb and Al Mushel
Mike Saraceno: It's been a great offseason working out in Hamilton. I'm 100% ready to go. Tell Mark and everybody I said hello.

New York: Do you believe that JOrdan Scott will have the same impact on the field, comapred to his amazing rookie season last year?
Mike Saraceno: I think Jordan Scott will have a better season than last year. Our offensive line is going to play a major role in the offensive success.

Bill (Norwich): Who are some newcomers you think will contribute this fall?
Mike Saraceno: I am not quite sure since practice has not started, but we will definitely count on some of our freshman and underclassmen to step up this season.

Greg: What have you tried to improve on the most this offseason?
Mike Saraceno: I definitely tried to improve on my movement in the pocket and my ability to be able to read defenses. And watching an intense amount of film.

Miami, FL: After the victory over FAU a couple years ago on the way to the Nat. Champ. Game you have a lot of S. FL fans. Is Holy Cross the darkhorse for the conference and how will you keep your team up for teams like them?
Mike Saraceno: First of all, I do not sleep on any team in the Patriot League, at any given time each team has enough talent to beat one another. It comes down to dedication, hard work and who wants it more in the end, considering every game comes down to the fourth quarter.

Troy Banks (Hamilton): How will the coaching changes affect the team this season, if at all? Good luck this season!
Mike Saraceno: I think with the addition of young and intense coaches, practice will be more enthusiastic. Coach Biddle will not allow a drop off but will expect if not the same, but more from these coaches.

Jake (D.C.): how is the depth at RB going to be?
Mike Saraceno: There will be a good mix of a lot of people in the offense.

Tim (Hamilton): Mike - You really seemed to come into your own last season once you got a few games under your belt. With a season of starting and a Patriot League first-team selection behind you, what are your personal goals for the 2006 season? Second question, if you could have one game that Colgate lost back to play over, which one would it be and why? Final question, you've been with the program since 2002. What teammate of yours over that time period has had the biggest impact on you and how?
Mike Saraceno: My personal goals this season is to have my touchdown-interception ratio lower. We can not turn the ball over as an offense.
Mike Saraceno: UNH ... I would have loved to have been healthy coming into this game. UNH has a great program, but I feel like I can have been more of a threat in the game, considering that was the first time I ever slid in my life.

Dan: Do you feel Colgate has a chance at Chattanooga this year? Good luck up there in NY.
Mike Saraceno: I feel ever year Colgate has a chance to go all the way. With the athletes that we have and our coaching staff, I will never sell us short of a national title. This is our ultimate goal.

Hal: What are your personal plans after graduation?
Mike Saraceno: I'm definitely giving some thought to staying within the football world. Provided that I will be able to get a GA job and be able to work on my masters (administration).

Floyd (San Diego): Mike- How have the summer workouts been going in Hamilton?
Mike Saraceno: We've had about 20 guys on average up in Hamilton all summer. The workouts have been great. With Coach Burney we've had great success this summer.

Ft. Lauderdale FL: How are your receivers? Any coming back or new one's coming in?
Mike Saraceno: Kenny Parker, Eric Burke and Dave Morgan are all returning. Our receiving corp is going to be among the best in the country.
Moderator: Mike, thank you for being the first to participate in the Patriot League's inaugural online chat. Good luck this season.
Mike Saraceno: Thank you very much, I appreciate the Patriot League asking me to do this. Good luck to all the teams in the Patriot League this year.
Moderator: Thanks again. Georgetown's Liam Grubb will begin momentarily.
